Kohaku helped him to his feet with surprising strength, and he nodded a yes in answer to the boy's question. "Yes, she's -my- older sister." He smiled a bit. "And I know your sister; she lives with Inuyasha in the village next door to Sango and Miroku, and I'm staying with my sister until I can build my own hut." Wait, Kagome had said only she and Inuyasha could go through the well, so how could...? "How did you get here?"

‘Jeeze… Kohaku’s strong… I wonder if he’s a demon too; he’s strong enough to be one, I guess.’ Souta told himself mentally but then answered him. “Well..” He said as he thought for a moment and began, “I was sitting on the stairs to the well house, in the other world or time- whatever you call it, when I heard something scratch at the wells side.” He shrugged and said, “I went down and looked in the well when a demon jumped out at me and pulled me in the well.” Souta then thought to leave the parts where he yelled like a girl out. “Then, both the demon and I were surrounded by a purple light all around… It felt so strange.” Souta told him not smiling slightly. “I managed to push away from the demon and was at the bottom of this well,” he said glancing back at it, “Now I’m here.” Now, after all that, it was sinking in that he had really came and is in the feudal era now… “So, how far away is the village my sister is living?” He asked

Kohaku listened patiently, gazing intently at the boy from the future. That was odd... Not at all right... How did he get through? Did it have something to do with that particular demon? And where had the demon gone? "It isn't far," he stated, frowning slightly, though not at Souta. "I'll take you there and come back here to keep watch. The demon might find its way out of the well somehow." He didn't quite understand how the whole time-skipping thing worked, but if there was a demon in there, it had to come out sometime, and he'd be ready to slay it when it surfaced. It was his job, as a taijiya, to protect the village. Gently taking Souta's wrist, he began to lead the boy in the direction of the nearby village, his mind elsewhere.

Souta let him take his wrist but was slightly annoyed. Why was Kohaku treating him like a child... Just because he's Kagome's brother, and just because hes not from that time era doesn't mean anything! He looked around and said, "Or I could stay here to help you..." It was a quiet suggestion, but it was one he wanted approved.

Oh, that was cute. That was absolutely, utterly adorable. Not. Stay and help him? A boy from the future who most likely could not fight, and DEFINATELY could not match Kohaku in skill? It was a laughable notion. "Stay and help me? From what I've heard of your time, young men there aren't trained to fight. You could get hurt, or even killed." Dropping Souta's wrist, he turned to look at the boy, fire in his brown eyes. "I won't put YOUR sister through what MY sister went through," was all he hissed out, before grabbing his hand and leading him, a bit more forcefully, toward the village once more. No, he wouldn't let Souta get killed. Sango had once thought Kohaku dead; he didn't want anyone else to feel the grief that he knew she had harbored.

Souta blinked and tried to pull away as he said, "I don't have to listen to you and plus, my sister has no idea I'm here right now..." He said glaring. And here he thought Kohaku seemed calm, cool and nice... Ha! That was rich... 'He's turning out to be my mother...' Souta thought as he grimaced.

Taking a deep breath, Kohaku managed to calm himself down a bit, though his eyes were cold as he dropped Souta's wrist. "Don't have to listen to me, the experienced demon slayer? Do you think this is all a game? Killing demons is a big deal. It's real; you could get hurt, you could get us both killed." Giving the boy from the future a sideways glance, he winced slightly at the way Souta glared. He shouldn't let him stay... But he didn't want the other male to hate him. Here was someone who most likely didn't know all the horrible things he had done in his past, didn't know how weak he had been... Here was someone who couldn't possibly hold all that against him. Don't ruin this, Kohaku, he thought, before relenting with a sigh. "Fine, you can stay. Just... If the demon comes back, you have to do what I say."

"Alright; that sounds fare enough..." He told him but then smiled a little. He was frowning inside however. Souta then thought to himself, Yeah, the only way I get him to stop acting like my mother is to act like a child… He looked around and crossed his arms as he asked, “So, how many demons have you slayed, if you can count them all that is?” He asked as he watched him simply and smiled faintly.

How many demons had he slayed? What kind of question was that? Why did Souta care to know? Slaughter wasn't exactly something Kohaku enjoyed talking about. "Too many." He said simply, ambling back to the well and taking a seat in the grass, watching the stone structure expectantly. Too many demons exterminated... There was too much blood on his hands. There was no way he could rectify it, no way he could repent... He was a monster. Why didn't Souta see that? The villagers did, Inuyasha and Kagome did, even his own sister Sango saw it... What made Souta different? "Why did you want to stay instead of let your sister know you were here? The village is safer... I don't mean to treat you like a child, I know that's annoying, but... I don't want to see you hurt."

Why /did/ he want to stay here rather than go see his sister? 'I guess, ' he thought to himself, 'I want to talk to Kohaku...' The thought echoed in his head. He smiled slightly and said, "She's not the boss of me anymore. And plus, she’s probably busy with Inuyasha... or something..." He said as he smile faltered slightly. After Kagome first went through the well, he felt it would be bad. He had rather missed her but his mom didn’t really notice that he felt any such grief; she was always too worried about Kagome. Souta couldn’t blame. Killing a demon must be a walk in the park for her now.

Oh... Kagome must be a sensitive topic with Souta. Well, why hadn't Kohaku realized it? Sango was a sensitive subject for him, as was Naraku and his entire past... Maybe Souta was the same way, you know, without the whole 'I've slaughtered too many living beings to count' thing. "I'm sorry... It must be hard for you, her being here all the time..." The dark haired taijiya knew what it was like to be away from a beloved sibling for long amounts of time. He didn't know why, but he felt kind of guilty... The fuedal era kept Kagome here, away from her brother and family, and Kohaku was a part of that era... Was it, indirectly, partially his fault? "But she'd still want to know that you're here, and not in your own era... I wonder how that happened anyway... The shikon jewel is all in one piece, so you can't have a shard..."

He watched him and smiled a little as he apologized. He remember that Kohaku had an older sister as well. 'Why did he apologize?' he asked him self as he said, "Maybe it was destiny?" He asked. After Souta said that, he let his words float around in his head. Then it hit him. He had almost said it in a suggestive tone. He laughed a little as he added, "That the demon grabbed me, that is..."
